Pirates announce June Softball Camp Schedule

Students looking to improve their athletic skills or who have an interest in sports and want to learn more are invited to participate in the 2011 Pirate Sports Camps at Independence Community. Camps are scheduled throughout the summer for young athletes in a variety of grades and skill sets. June Camps focus on softball and football.

Softball Camp will be held for students in grades 8th through 12th on June 6th and 7th. A second camp for students six years of age through 7th grade will be held June 8th and 9th. Both camps will meet from 9:00 a.m. to noon at Emerson Park on South 10th Street Road. Cost is $35.

“We’re looking for players with a great attitude and a willingness to learn. We will focus on all aspects of the game from proper stretching and warm-up, to developing each young lady’s skills of throwing, hitting, and catching. Campers will be split up based on skill level and experience to make sure they receive the amount of help they need,” said Barbara Burnett, ICC’s Head Softball Coach.

Assisting Coach Burnett will be Jenna Lilley, Assistant Coach, and members of the Pirate Softball Team. Appropriate attire for students will be t-shirts, shorts or baseball pants, and cleats or sneakers.

For more information, contact Coach Burnett at (409) 429-4170, or Coach Lilley at (409) 350-9503, or email bburnett@indycc.edu.
