Emergency Responder Class scheduled to begin June 7th

The Allied Health Department of Independence Community College will be offering an Emergency Medical Responder Class and CPR course starting June 7th and continuing through August 9th, with Keith Copithke as the instructor. This is the first step to entering the exciting world of emergency medicine and being a part of helping your community in times of need.

This is the beginning entry class into EMS. The course is directed to train students in the techniques necessary to evaluate a patient’s condition, administer pulmonary and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, control hemorrhage, treat for shock, and immobilize fractures before the arrival of an ambulance. It will also prepare the student to take the Kansas State Registry exam as ‘First Responder’.

Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00 to 10:00 p.m. at ICC West, Room W105.

For more information contact ICC’s Allied Health Coordinator Denise Clark at (620) 332-5498. To enroll visit the Student Services in the lower level of the ICC Student Union or enroll at first class session.
