Bread Making Topic of New Class

A Bread Making Class has been added to the Mid-Semester Course line up at Independence Community College. The hands-on instructional sessions are laid out in three evening classes beginning on March 28th and continuing on April 4th and 11th.

“Hands-on yeast bread is the study topic,” said instructor Patty Wolfe, who teaches ICC’s popular Cake Decorating classes. “We’ll study white and whole wheat breads, cinnamon rolls, raisin bread, and, time permitting, may work with yeast doughnuts and different shaped dinner rolls. My plan is to have some product ready to bake so students can see what it looks like at each stage of the process and we’ll be using the oven to bake during class so they can see the finished product.”

She went on to add that the students will learn bread baking skills and get success tips, in addition to the experience of stirring up their own dough, kneading, and letting it rise. Each student will be making their own dinner rolls and small loaves of bread.

Wolfe will be teaching in the Community Room Kitchen of ICC West from 6:30-9:00 p.m. Cost is $25.00 and can be paid on the first night of class. Minimal supplies will need to be purchased and the supply list will be distributed at the first session.
