2nd Trustee Candidate Forum Slated for ICC Campus

Ben Seel, Independence Community College Political Science Professor, has announced a Board of Trustee Candidates Forum for students, staff and community members on Tuesday, March 29th. The event will be held in the William Inge Theatre on beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a casual meet and greet. The formal platform speeches will begin at 5:30 p.m. followed by a reception and informal discussions at approximately 6:45 p.m.

“I’ve invited all nine of the candidates to the public forum on the ICC campus where they can introduce themselves and share their thoughts with our students, employees of the College, and the general public,” said Seel, who will serve as host and emcee for the evening. “This event is being sponsored by the Political Science Department because many people on campus are interested in meeting our candidates in person.”

The nine candidates are vying for three board positions and will be on the April 5th general election ballot for registered voters living in the northern half of Montgomery County.

Each candidate has been asked to bring a one page document listing their qualifications for the board, their platform, and any other information that whey will want voters to have about their candidacy. A list of questions was included and the candidates’ information and answers will be compiled into information packets for those attending the forum.

During the public forum, each candidate will have several minutes to address the audience. “After all the candidates speak, we will take a short recess and then move into a Q&A session. Members of the audience will be allowed to direct a question to a specific candidate and the candidate will have up to two minutes to respond; one other candidate will be given the opportunity for a one minute rebuttal/extension. There will be time allotted for one direct question per candidate,” added Seel.
